The journey from milk to meals is an exciting milestone for every baby and parent. Around the age of 6 months, your baby begins to need more nutrients than breast milk alone can provide. This is when weaning the gradual introduction of solid or semi-solid foods begins. At Bhakti Children and Multispecialty Hospital, we help parents make this transition smooth, safe, and joyful for their little ones.
Why Start Weaning at 6 Months?
Until six months of age, a baby’s digestive system is still developing. By this time, they are ready to digest soft foods and need additional iron, protein, and vitamins to support growth and brain development. Starting solids too early or too late can lead to nutritional imbalances or feeding difficulties later on.
Our doctors recommend beginning with simple, smooth-textured foods while continuing to breastfeed. Breast milk remains an essential source of nutrition during the first year weaning food complements it, not replaces it.
